I was seated next next to some mama holding her babe. She was peering through the window as if in some wandering thinking while explaining to me where she live and works. She said she works in a coffee farm some 20 km southern San Jose. Looked at her wondering why she wasn't interested in what she was narrating. Probably she had busy day in the City and was returning to the "normal hard life". Coffee zones in Costa Rica have one of the worse job conditions. Cuddling her baby, she returned her gaze to me...with a half tired smile. "You there, that's where I live", she said, pointing at the green mountain on the south. Her hand moved carelessly and her baby started to cry. Mummuring and some ejerculatory prayers filled the bus. The woman next to me was scared and was now holding her baby tighly looking outside but with a different gaze. Terror! she was terrified. I was the one oblivious of what was happening. When I looked outside, trees were dancing like grass, building too were swaying and windows crashing. There there was a burst of people rushing from the buildings and crying. Screams filled the bus. My reaction was not anything to describe. I just sat there watching every moment. EARTHQUAKE!!! I have never seen felt it before. At least I have felt some Earth shakebefore but not such a strong movement that made the bus almost break.
In some seconds it stopped and helped to ease the screams. Outside some big hospital were nurses and doctors in white. I thought of the patients inside. Thank God it stopped. Kids were being rushed to safety. And Chaos reined outside. The bus passed quickly and in some moments we were at Marriott Hotel, Alajuela.
